A 'Fake' Warning About a Real Virus

Some folks just want to flood the cyber airwaves with stuff. Who knows what their motives may be.

I received an email that after I read it I almost deleted it.  I thought at first it was just another 'Oh no another virus warning', but since it contained a link to Snopes I decided to check it out. (I have received notices before with links to Snopes that totally debunked the message.)

It seemed real, but I know Microsoft and Norton don't send virus warnings, so further investigation was in order.

Turns out it is a real virus, but the email is an edited version of an old hoax named 'Life is Beautiful'.

So what is the real virus? Apparently it is an email worm that has been around a long time and first surfaced in 2001.  Seems it collects passwords.

What I received along with my reply.

The email.
