Installing Internet Explorer 7
Before installing IE 7, be sure there is no spyware or virus on your computer. Close all running programs including your virus scanner and any spyware programs. Do NOT close or disable your firewall.
Error message when you try to install Internet Explorer 7: "Internet Explorer could not be installed"
Other information of note:
A few users get as far as 'Installing required updates' and the
installation does not go any farther.
If this happens to you, when you are at the screen that asks for the
required updates, remove the check mark and continue, it will install and
then reboot, then go to MS update and it will complete.
When you open IE 7 or click on the new tab button in IE 7, you may get a page that says 'About Blank'. This is not the same as the nefarious spyware 'about blank'. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom just put the 'About Blank' or 'About Tabs' here. You can change the Home page by clicking Tools/Internet Options, and type the web address for the home page you desire.
Another problem (apparently by design) in IE 7, the menu bar is not enabled when IE 7 first installs. Just right click on any blank space in the top and click the Menu bar to have it show.
