Invitations I Don't Want (or just more spam!)

I am what is known as a 'senior citizen'. My friends think I am a computer nerd.

I probably do know more about computers and how to use them than the average user. I certainly don't know as much as I would like to know.

One thing I do know is how to avoid spam. I use throw-away email addresses for most things. If that email address starts getting a lot of spam, I just delete it and the spam goes to where ever 'lost in cyberspace' emails go.

The problem I am now encountering is all of the garbage emails I get from people in Yahoo Groups that want to 'share' with me their wonderful experiences on these so-called social sites like Refriendz, FriendsClub, Question It, etc and of course, Grouply. The 'invitations' just keep coming. My blocked senders list just keeps growing.

I am pretty sure these folks all fall into the 'naive' class of users. The sites seem to have something they all think is cool, but what I don't know. I don't understand why they want to 'share' all of the emails they get from Yahoo Groups or anywhere else.

As far as I am concerned, spam is spam, no matter where it comes from or who sends it.

Since the advent of the undisputed king of social networking, Facebook, I get invitations for Facebook as well. Most of these are from people I don't know and for email accounts I seldom use or use for a specific purpose.

I have a Facebook Account so I don't need to get another one and I certainly don't want to be friends with someone I don't know, at least not on Facebook! (For all I know those invites may be from a spammer that wants access to my other friends.)

Now there is Google+.

I do have a Google+ account, but so far I haven't done much with it. Once Google+ gets really going, I expect I will get more invites, whether I want them or not!
