My Point of View!
Using your computer, reading email and surfing the web should be productive or fun. Unfortunately there are a lot of unscrupulous people in the world that are fast making using your computer, reading email, not productive or fun. The bad guys are also costing us money, a lot of money. We have to pay for virus scanners, trojan scanners, update subscriptions, spam blockers and spyware removal. There are free versions for all of these services, but a lot of people are afraid to use them.
The cost of spam alone is staggering. If you are an individual using your computer just for fun, you may not think about the high cost of spam. If you are on a dialup connection to the Internet and pay for the bandwidth you use, spam is costing you money. Over time it adds up. If you are in a business environment, whether for yourself or for a company, spam is costing dollars and for some businesses, big dollars. The cost is measured by the amount received. It takes time to sort through and delete all that junk. For any business, time is money. Not only does it take time to sort and delete spam, it aggravates us! Aggravation can also cause folks to be very unproductive.
Scams are hurting the unsuspecting Newbies. Most of us that have been using computers for any length of time are aware that there are more scams and frauds on the Internet everyday and a lot of them are coming into our inboxes. Even people who know better get taken every now and then. We have all heard of the people making a fortune on the Internet. I don't personally know any of them, do you? There are so many 'Get rich quick' sites out there I doubt anyone could count them. I have to admit I bit on one once, but it didn't take me long to figure out the only people getting rich were the people selling the plan. Fortunately I didn't stay with that scam very long. I didn't spend a lot of money, but I did spend. The old adage 'If it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't' has never been more of a hard fact today.
