Backup Windows Mail

Email is probably the most import application for the majority of users.  Losing email can cause many folks to be almost desperate to get those precious missives back and in the event of a computer crash a backup may be the only way to retrieve the email.

Backing up Windows Mail is similar to backing up Outlook Express. Microsoft changed the default store location and made it easier to locate for backup purposes.

However it may be easier for the average user to change the store location.

First make 2 new folders in your Documents and name them 'Windows Mail Store and Windows Contacts. Screenshot

Next open Windows Mail and click on Tools from the main menu and select Options. Click the Advanced tab and then click Maintenance.  Click the Store Folder button and you will see where your email is currently stored. Screenshots

Now click the Change button and browse to the new folder named Windows Mail Store that you created in your Documents. Once you have located the newly created Windows Mail Store, click OK to change the location. Now you need to close Windows mail to complete the location change. Screenshots

Now you need to backup your email contacts (Address book).
