You Won the Lotto

You Won the Lotto

Have you ever received an email saying "Congratulations, you have won!"

I hope you didn't believe it, this is just another scam that have caused a lot of people to lose money if they did believe it.

The message may have said something to the effect "To file for your claim please contact our financial agent Chester Trust Security Services, Holland with a photocopy of your ID for age verification, telephone and fax numbers."

Then the message gives contact information, which goes to real telephone and fax numbers.( If you respond, you have just given someone enough information to start stealing your identity.)
Then when you do contact them, their response will be for some reason you will need to pay x amount of $$ so you can collect the lottery full amount.

Toward the end of the message there is usually a congratulations and sometimes a request to keep the fact that you have won a secret for a while.

Stop and think! Did you enter a lottery in the country that says you won? No? Then why would you think you have won?

As far as I or anyone else knows, no lottery will notify you have won by email. How would they get your email address!

If you play in a lottery you have a 'LOTTERY TICKET"! Think about it! This is just another way to scam you out of your money .

I even received an email saying Bill Gates was sponsoring a lottery to promote his software! Now do you really think Bill Gates NEEDS to promote his software? Hardly! The scammers will try any and everything trying to get you to bite!

So delete that phony 'You've Won the Lottery' email and save yourself a lot of time, grief and money!
